The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (IATA: ATL, ICAO: KATL, FAA LID: ATL) is the busiest airport in the world. The airport is situated seven miles (11 km) from the Downtown area of Atlanta on its south side. The name of the airport changed numerous times and currently has its name after two former mayors of Atlanta – William B. Hartsfield and Maynard Jackson.
Atlanta, with the estimated 2017 population of 486,290, is the most populated city in the State of Georgia and also the capital of it. The city is a cultural and economic hub of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area.
Atlanta is governed by a Mayor and City Council consisting of 15 representatives – one from each district of the city and three at-large positions. All of the mayors that have been elected since 1973 were Black. The first woman to become a Mayor was Shirley Franklin in 2001.

Atlanta recently has been named as Los Angeles of the South. Although LA remains as a hub to many film studios, in 2016 there were more significant films made in the State of Georgia than in California. Movies made in Georgia also dominated 2018 box office. Marvel Studios shot parts of the film Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-man, and the Wasp in Atlanta. Of course thanks to the generous tax incentives for film productions signed by the governor Sonny Perdue in 2008.
Atlanta is a great place to reside in for not only film lovers but also for people who like to reside in a forested urban area. Atlanta has more than 100,000 shade trees and has been named as the most heavily forested urban area in the country by the National Forest Service. The forest covers 47,9% of the city.

The airlines advise passengers to arrive at the airport 2 hours before the departure, and in case they do not need to check in their bags, 60 minutes before the scheduled departure.
